He first considered suicide at nine years old. Surviving into his twenties, he discovered nature as refuge from shame and unworthiness. He spent subsequent decades cultivating a sacred intimacy with nature that would later grow to inspire and inform his thriving amidst a terminal cancer diagnosis.
